In The Cendovian, Professor Richard Nelson created a virtual world called Cendovia for people to live in. He referred to the act of crossing over into this world as digital transcendence. Throughout the story, Richard hoped Cendovia would become a place people would want to live. His fear was that it would become the only place left for them to live.
To prepare Cendovia for the arrival of others, Richard took the leap and ventured into Cendovia himself as Richie. On the inside and knowing that he could never return, Richie wondered if he would regret trapping himself inside his own creation for eternity.
