After years as a nuerosurgeon, Dr. Pari Kallalaprakesh-Francis decided to trade her operating scrubs for a research lab coat. Her research interests returned her to her life-long love of math, eventually prompting her to get a Ph.D in Mathematics and teach it part-time. In The Cendovian, we are first introduced to Pari at Stanford as she lectures to Marisa and Connor about the importance of graph theory.
While not teaching, Pari focuses on her full time job as director of Golden Bay Labs, a private, secretive nueroscience research firm. This firm arose from Richard and Pari's shared interested in digital transcendence. The two became friends in college and for years secretly researched the possibility of backing up the human mind to a computer system.
Like Richard, Pari also hopes to rescue her friend Virginia after her plane crash. The two women had long been close friends and Pari missed Virginia dearly. Yet, Pari often finds herself reining in Richard's overzealous attempts to bring Virginia home. As one of the few who knows all of Richard's secrets, Pari struggles with the implications of what she hides from her husband Gerald and her adopted daughter Quinn.
